Welcome
Thank you for choosing Little Explorers Preschool! My goal is to create a safe, joyful, and organized environment where children can learn, grow, and build confidence. These policies help ensure a wonderful experience for every child and family throughout the school year.
Illness Policy
Helping our classroom stay healthy is one of my top priorities. Because Little Explorers Preschool is a small, home-based program with one teacher, illnesses can spread quickly. Thank you for helping protect our classroom by keeping your child home when they aren’t feeling well.
Please keep your child home if they have:
A fever of 100.4°F or higher within the past 24 hours (without fever-reducing medication)
Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
A contagious illness such as strep throat, pink eye, RSV, COVID-19, influenza, or hand, foot, and mouth disease
A persistent cough or symptoms that make it difficult for them to comfortably participate in class
A runny nose requiring frequent wiping or one that is more than mild. Even if your child seems happy and energetic, frequent nasal drainage can easily spread germs throughout our classroom.
Children should be fever-free and symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning to preschool.
If your child arrives at preschool showing signs of illness—including a significant runny nose, excessive coughing, unusual fatigue, or if they become ill during class—I will contact you and ask that they be picked up as soon as possible. My goal is to keep every child healthy while providing the best learning environment possible.
Because I am the only teacher and do not have substitute teachers available, if I become ill and need to cancel class, a make-up class will always be scheduled so families receive the full number of preschool sessions each month.

Snow Day & Weather Policy
The safety of our families always comes first.
If weather conditions make travel unsafe, preschool may be canceled. Families will be notified by text and email as early as possible.
Because our schedule follows a two-day-per-week format, weather-related closures will not typically be made up unless otherwise announced.
We do a significant amount of playtime outside. So always have your children come dressed prepared for the weather! Of course if conditions are more extreme, we will stay inside that day.
Drop-Off & Pick-Up
To help our mornings and afternoons run smoothly, please follow these simple procedures:
🌞 Drop-Off
Students may be dropped off between 8:55–9:00 AM.
I will be waiting at the gate each morning to greet each child with a smile!
You’re welcome to walk your child to the gate, or if they’re feeling confident, they may walk up to me on their own.
If your child arrives after we’ve already gone inside, simply come to the front door. You’re welcome to walk your child inside if they need a little extra support joining the class.
🌈 Pick-Up
Preschool ends promptly at 11:00 AM.
Please plan to pick up your child at 11:00 so we can finish our morning routine smoothly and prepare for the rest of the day.
If someone other than a parent or authorized adult will be picking up your child, please let me know ahead of time.
What To Bring
Keeping things simple helps our mornings run smoothly!
Please send your child with:
🎒 A full-size backpack
We often send home artwork, crafts, worksheets, newsletters, and special projects. A full-size backpack helps keep everything organized and prevents papers from getting crumpled on the way home.
That’s it!
Over the years, I’ve found that it’s much easier and more efficient to keep all of our classroom supplies here at preschool. I’ll provide everything your child needs throughout the year—including art supplies, learning materials, writing tools, sensory activities, and classroom resources.
If your child happens to forget their backpack one day, no worries! They’ll simply carry their projects home, and we can use their backpack again next class.
Just bring a backpack, a smile, and a readiness to explore! 🌿
Communication
I believe communication is key to a successful preschool experience!
Families can expect:

Text reminders for important events
Open communication throughout the school year
If you ever have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I want every family to feel informed, supported, and connected.
Tuition & Refunds
Tuition is due on the 1st of each month.
Payments may be made by:

Check
Please let me know if you ever have questions regarding tuition.
Tuition reserves your child’s place in our preschool and helps cover classroom materials and planning throughout the year.
Tuition is non-refundable once the month has begun.
If your family chooses to withdraw from preschool, I kindly ask for at least 30 days’ notice whenever possible.
Admission fees for optional Explorer Adventures are generally non-refundable once tickets have been purchased.
Safety
Your child’s safety is my highest priority.
To provide a safe and positive learning environment:
Emergency contact information will always be kept on file.
Basic first aid supplies are available in the classroom.
Emergency drills will be practiced throughout the year.
Parents will be contacted immediately in the event of an illness, injury, or emergency.
Children will always be supervised during class and on Explorer Adventures.
Explorer Adventures (Field Trips)
Throughout the year, we’ll enjoy several optional Explorer Adventures that connect our classroom learning to real-world experiences.
How it works:
Participation is optional.
Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from the field trip location.
Because we have a small class size, I am happy to supervise children whose parents choose to drop them off. Parents are also warmly invited to stay and enjoy the experience with their child.
If your child will be attending without a parent, admission fees for your child will be collected before the field trip. Parents who choose to attend will be responsible for purchasing their own admission.
If your family is unable to attend a field trip, your child will simply miss class that day, and I look forward to seeing them at our next preschool session.
